Originally launched as 501 z, these Levi's Vintage Clothing 501 jeans of 1954 represent the expansion of Levi's in new territories.
Until then, the Levi's had been worn mainly to the west, where they had earned a faithful following. The inhabitants of the Eastern coast, however, did not have much familiar with these work trousers with sketched flap. To make this American classic known to the Eastern coast, Levi's took the original 501 Shrink-to-Fit jeans and replaced the classic sketched flap with a zip, calling them 501 z where the Z was precisely zip.
We collaborated with a Japanese artisan company to meticulously recreate the denim with Cimosa Levi's of the 1950s
