Description
On May 20, 1873, Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis were granted a patent (No. 139,121) for “an improvement in securing the opening of pockets.” The West Coast at the time was dotted with farms, ranches, railroads and gold mines. Jacob Davis, a tailor from Reno, Nevada, thought of inserting rivets on work trousers in the most stressed points, collaborating with his denim supplier Levi Strauss in San Francisco. This is how blue jeans with rivets were born. Levi's® soon became the favorite item of clothing for a varied group of characters (more or less noble) who helped create the America we know today. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of this patent, we want to pay homage to the innovative spirit of our founding fathers.
